William Charles (Bill) Kenney was born on June 5, 1937 to his parents, William Charles Kenney,Sr. and Helen Catherine Doyle Kenney, and joined his big brother, Robert Charles (Bob). The Kenneys resided in Elkins Park, PA; then Jenkintown, PA; and finally, Meadowbrook, PA. He stayed in Meadowbrook for most of his adult life and in more recent years, Bill resided at Normandy Farms Retirement Community in Blue Bell, PA.

Bill attended Jenkintown High School, Class of 1955; Ursinus College, Class of 1959, where he studied history; and Princeton Seminary where he earned a B.A. in Theology. Bill became a History teacher and later a guidance counselor for Upper Moreland School District in Willow Grove, PA. While at Upper Moreland, Bill made some lifelong friendships among his colleagues. He loved working with students, both in the classroom and as a guidance counselor, and took great pleasure in running into former students long after his retirement.

After retiring from his career in education, Bill became an ordained minister in the Anglican Church. His most recent affiliation was with St John's Anglican Church in Southampton. Bill was a man of many interests. He was an avid reader and a longstanding participant in his church choir. He loved to travel. In his younger years, he was a body builder and an impressive swimmer, especially on the 33rd Street beach in Beach Haven Gardens, NJ. His gardens-both vegetable and flower-were true labors of love. He grew almost any vegetable you can name, but his tomatoes were his pride and joy! His flower garden was once featured in a gardening magazine. He often brought freshly cut flowers from his yard to any dinner engagement or celebration. And while he didn't eat many sweets, he did love a good strawberry shortcake.

Bill was generous in both his time and effort to those around him. He drove several elderly neighbors to doctor appointments for many years. Additionally, he made several missionary trips with his church.

Bill looked up to his brother, Bob, and told many stories of Bob with pride. He was thrilled to celebrate and hear about the adventures and accomplishments of his nieces and nephews, and he remained an integral part of their lives.

Bill is survived by his sister-in-law, Ellen Kenney; his nephew Robert Charles Kenney, Jr. (Marina); and his niece, Kristen Kenney Donohue (Patrick); and his great nephews and nieces, Jack, Christopher, Connor, Kaitlyn, and Tatum. He is pre-deceased by his parents, William and Helen Kenney, and his brother, Bob.

Bill will be remembered for his devotion to and love for his family; the joy he found in the presence of his great nieces and nephews; his easy smile and big laugh; his enthusiasm and commitment to every rendition of "Happy Birthday;" and his generous spirit evident in the many acts of kindness he performed for the people around him. He will be greatly missed and thought of with love.

A memorial service will be held for Bill in the Normandy Farms Retirement Community Auditorium on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 10:30am at 9000 Twin Silo Dr., Blue Bell PA 19422. Interment will be private.
