WALLACE JACOBY DOWNS, JR., a resident of Willow Grove for 51 years, died on October 9, 2016 at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Anne Watson Downs for 63 years. Born in Taxila, India (now Pakistan) to missionary parents, he was the son of the late Wallace Jacoby Downs and the late Caroline Packard Rice. Wallace graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1953 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from G.E. Aerospace Division in 1989. Wallace was a member of the Abington Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending winters in Venice, Florida, where he and Anne were avid golfers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three loving daughters; Caroline Farrell, Elizabeth Rounce and Margaret Frost; his sons-in-law Douglas Farrell and Robert Rounce; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They lovingly referred to him as the Big Guy. A memorial service will be held in New England at the convenience of the family.
