SANDRA C. Lynch (nee Saur), age 78, of Rydal Park died on January 12, 2017 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Douglas R. Lynch for 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Catherine L. Saur. Sandy was a lifelong resident of Abington Township. She spent many happy summers in Ocean City, NJ, where she met her husband in 1954. She attended Abington Friends and graduated from Abington High School in 1955. Sandy took great pride in her family, home, and community. She was an active member of Abington Presbyterian Church. Through her decades of work at the church nursery school, Sandy contributed to the education and development of thousands of children. Always an avid gardener, Sandy and her husband volunteered countless hours tending to the beautiful grounds of the historic church. As a talented baker, Sandy was known for her fruit pies, lemon bars, and other tempting desserts. She was also a music fan, with a passion for the great singers and jazz musicians of the mid-twentieth century. Sandy will be remembered for her signature blond braid, her engaging personality, and her amazing ability to recall the names of her many students decades after their nursery school years. In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by her sons and their spouses: Douglas, Jr. and Joan Lynch and Gary and Celeste Lynch, by her dear grandchildren, Allison and Kevin and by her brother, Henry K. Saur. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Meditation Room at Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, 6th Floor, Jenkintown. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Abington Presbyterian Church Nursery School, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001. Sandy's family would like to acknowledge the caregivers at Rydal Park for their kindness, compassion, and dedication to Sandy's health and comfort over the past three years.
