RUTH FLORENCE GALLAGHER, age 93, a long-time resident of Ardsley, PA died on September 11, 2014. She was the devoted wife, for 47 years, of the late Ernest W. Gallagher, until his death in 1990.
Born in Haddonfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Ernst.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. For more than 40 years, she worked for the R. T. French Company, the well know company that manufactures French's mustard.
Ruth was a long-time member of the Morning Light Chapter #312 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was also a member of Tall Cedars, a masonic organization that works to raise money to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy and neuromuscular diseases.
She was an active volunteer with Meals- on-Wheels.
Ruth was a member of Plymouth Meeting Evangelical Congregational Church.
She is survived by her children: Barbara Howald, William Gallagher and Robert Gallagher and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gladys R. Major.
Eastern Star Service will be held at 10:00 AM and Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road, Abington. Friends will be received from 10:15 until 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
