Peggy Cox Frankenfield, 95, a long-time resident of Roslyn, PA, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023, at Artman Lutheran Home, in Ambler, PA. She lived most recently at Gloria Dei Farms in Hatboro, surrounded by friends.

Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Paul Frankenfield, her parents, James Howard and Clara (Alderton) Cox, and her brother J. Howard (Betty) Cox. She is survived by her brother Clifford (Joni) Cox, her sons, James Clark (Nana Gagua) and Thomas Andrew (Diane), her grandchildren Jake and Rachel, and nieces Bethany (Joe) Buckley and Lisa Tenerowicz.

Peggy was born in Logan, West Virginia, in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, and raised in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, spending summers with her extended family near Blackwater Falls, West Virginia. She worked during high school at Kaufmann's Department store and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

Immediately following her graduation, Peggy embarked on a cross-country bus trip to visit California and Arizona's national parks, quite an adventurous undertaking for a woman in her day. Upon her return, she began her first assignment as a kindergarten teacher at Roslyn Elementary where she met her husband, Joe, to whom she was married for 58 years. She later taught at Upper Dublin, Hancock Elementary School in Lansdale, the North Wales School, and Gwynedd-Norristown Elementary.

A great storyteller, Peg shared many amusing anecdotes about her travel adventures and her ambitious and sometimes calamitous projects with kindergarteners.

Peg was a voracious reader, a curious world traveler and a kind and generous friend. Her passion for knowledge and inquisitive nature made her a great, engaged conversationalist.

Following her retirement from teaching in 1991, she continued her quest for knowledge through continued travel throughout North America and Europe and her involvement with Arcadia University.

Peg and Joe were long-time members of Abington Presbyterian Church - where they were active in teaching Sunday school and other philanthropic pursuits. Most recently, Peg was a member of the Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church in Hatboro.

Peg was passionate about the natural beauty of Blackwater Falls and ensuring its preservation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are gratefully received by Friends of Blackwater Falls, P.O. 247, Thomas, West Virginia 26292 or saveblackwater.org/donate.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 14, 2023, Wayside Chapel at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler. Relatives and friends will be received in the chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Entombment will be in the Tower of Chimes Mausoleum of Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
