Obituary

Nancy Elizabeth Nichols Lathlaen, age 86, a resident of the Rydal Park Retirement Community in Jenkintown, PA died on December 27, 2012. She had previously resided in Abington, PA, Ambler, PA, Ossining, NY and Lansdowne, PA. Born in Philadelphia, Nancy was the daughter of the late Adley Bonesteel Nichols and the late Muriel Phelps Nichols. In 1944, after graduating from Lansdowne High School, Nancy studied at Drexel University and earned her degree in 1946. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Nancy began her working career as a secretary at Sun Oil and later worked for Drexel University, where she was secretary to the President. She was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon and was a member of the choir and Women's Auxiliary. She was a former member of Mt. Kisco Presbyterian Church in Mt. Kisco, NY, Ossining Presbyterian Church in Ossining, NY and Lansdowne Presbyterian Church in Lansdowne, PA. She was member of P.E.O. sisterhood, an international women's organization with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Margaret Jane "Peggy Lathlaen and Joshua Channing of Houston, TX, Gail Louise and Thomas B. Miskell of Norwood, MA and Carol-Sue and Joseph T. Norris of Stamford, CT; by her grandchildren: Thomas B. Miskell, Jr., Deacon Robert L. T. Miskell, Brian C. Miskell, and Rebecca Lynn Buring; by her sister, Helen "Niki" Reeves of Media, PA and by many nieces and nephews. She was previously married to Robert F. Lathlaen. Memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, January 3, 2013, Abington Presbyterian Church, Old York and Susquehanna Roads, Abington, where friends will be received after the service Burial in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens will be private. Memorial contributions may be sent to Abington Presbyterian Church - Music Program, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.
