Obituary

Miriam Tongue Murdock, age 100, a resident of Spring House Estates, Ambler, PA died on October 17, 2023. She was affectionately known as Nana to everyone.

Born in Abington, PA on August 1, 1923 she was the only child of the late Ellen Trudell Tongue and the late George Tongue. She graduated from Abington High School and then went on to both art and business school. Careers followed in banking and the medical field. Her retirement years were spent at Spring House Estates with its wonderful caring staff.

Miriam is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Fialer; granddaughter Shannon and her husband James Ward, all in California, and by many nieces and nephews.

She spent years, as a volunteer at the Women's Exchange which benefited Abington Hospital. Miriam also crocheted blanket squares for the Linus Project. Her needlepoint was beyond compare with so many receiving her exquisite Christmas tree ornaments.

For over 60 years, Miriam was a devoted member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Jenkintown, PA.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM, Grace Presbyterian Church, 444 Old York Road, Jenkintown, PA. A reception will immediately follow the memorial. Inurnment will be in Palo Alto, CA where her beloved son-in-law, Phil, is buried.
