Marian Ruby Barr Poole, age 94, died on Sunday January 26, 2025, at Rydal Park in Jenkintown, PA. She was the devoted wife, for 59 years, of the late Rev. Edward Otto Poole.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on April 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James Alexander Barr and the late Ruby Agnew Barr.
Marian was a 1948 graduate of Frankford High School and a 1950 graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology. She worked as a legal secretary in Center City Philadelphia until 1958 when she married Ed. She then began her role as a pastor's wife serving numerous Presbyterian churches while raising 4 daughters.
In June of 2001, they settled in Rydal Park where she was an active and well-loved resident. She was also an active member of Abington Presbyterian Church. She loved time with her family, friends, summers in Chautauqua, NY, classical music, opera, poetry, novels and nature.
She leaves her daughters, Ellen K. Morgan (John), Alice L. Temnick (Rick), Leah P. Greenwood (Paul), Sara B. Traver (Ron), seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild, a niece and three nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by her brothers: James A. Barr and David W. Barr and by her niece Mary Lynn Tafel.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025, Auditorium of Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, Jenkintown, where friends will be received after the service. Interment in Hillside Cemetery will be held privately.
