Obituary

John C. Triol, age 89, a resident of Huntingdon Valley died on May 28, 2013 at Temple University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lillie Newman Triol for the past twenty years. Mr. Triol was born in Abington, PA on May 9, 1924 to the late Mabel Clemmer Triol, who had been widowed just three months before. His father was the late Rosner N. Triol. Mr. Triol began his education in the Abington Schoolhouse, which is now part of the Sunrise Assisted Living facility, before transferring, in February of 1931, to the then newly opened Abington Junior and Grade School, which is now the School District headquarters. In February of 1933, he was admitted to Girard College in Philadelphia, from where he graduated in January 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy before Pearl Harbor and was called to Active duty on December 15, 1941. He was discharged from the Navy on September 24, 1945. After the war, he held several jobs prior to starting his career with United Engineers & Constructors, Inc., as a rodman in a construction survey crew. In his 38-years with that company, he advanced to the position of Manager of Construction Methods. In his 19-years at construction sites, he lived in 11 cities in 7 different states/provinces. He retired from UE&C on April 25, 1986. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; John C. Triol, Jr., Susan T. Cryan and Dr. Stephen W. Triol, whose mother, Katherine Wieder Triol, preceded their father in death. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, by his sister, Elizabeth Coates and by his step-daughters, Lynne Ruhling and Beth Burnside. He was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church for 73 years. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2013, Abington Presbyterian Church, Old York and Susquehanna Roads, Abington, where friends will be received from 9:00 until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Abington Presbyterian Church- Memorial Fund, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001 or to Alumni Fund of Girard College, 2101 S. College Avenue, Phila., PA 19120-9966.
