Janet Wimley Gruber, age 89, a resident of Spring House Estates, Ambler for the past 22 years and formerly of Jenkintown died on May 29, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Richard Immell Gruber for 17 years. Born in Philadelphia, Janet was the daughter of the late Sylvanus L. Wimley and the late Elva Shegog Wimley. She graduated from Jenkintown High School in 1945 and later attended Linden Hall Junior College. Janet Worked as an Executive Secretary for Standard Pressed Steel for 22 years before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Huntingdon Valley for 22 years, where she volunteered in the church office. She enjoyed golf and was a member of Old York Road Country Club since 1950. She also enjoyed fishing and was a member of Forest Lake Fishing and Golf Club for more than 50 years. While at Spring House Estates, Janet enjoyed Wii bowling and was a member of the 300 club. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Auditorium of Spring House Estates, 728 Norristown Road, Ambler, where friends will be received after the service.
