Obituary

JANE ALLEN GARRISON, age 92, a resident of Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale for the past 11-years and formerly of Willow Grove, died on August 26, 2016. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald L. Garrison for 46 years until his death in 2000. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Jane was the daughter of the late J. Warren Allen and the late Lois R. Fuller Allen. After graduating from Frankford High School in 1941, Jane studied at Temple University. Jane was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. After working with the Pennsylvania Railroad for 12 years, she found employment with the Upper Moreland School District. She began her 35-year career as a Realtor with William Brucker and Company in Abington, where she was their first female Realtor. She later worked for Felte Real Estate in Willow Grove, from where she retired in 2007. She was a member of Abington Civic Club, The Questers, P.E.O. International (Philanthropic Education Organization). She also volunteered with the American Cancer Society, Rydal Park Retirement Community and enjoyed her work with "Art Goes to School" in the area elementary schools. In 1956, Jane became a devoted and active member of Abington Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon for many years. In earlier years, she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Come Doubles Club. Jane was an avid traveler and enjoyed her journeys all over the world. She enjoyed playing Bridge. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially at the annual "Garrison Vacation". She cherished her special relationships with each of her grandchildren. She was an amazing friend. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Richard A. and Ann Garrison of Warrington, PA, Carol G. and Bruce S. Childs of Gaithersburg, MD and J. Bradley and Caroline Garrison of Perkasie, PA and by her seven dear grandchildren: Craig Childs and his wife, Erin, Colleen Childs, Kevin Childs, Carrie Garrison, Connor Garrison, Emma Garrison and Julie Garrison. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Sat. Sept. 10, 2016, Abington Presbyterian Church, Old York and Susquehanna Roads, Abington, where friends will be received after the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Abington Presbyterian Church, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.
