Harry Loftus Gillin, age 32, of Gloucester Township, NJ and Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 after an extremely brave battle with cancer. Harry was a genuine, thoughtful, and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Harry was born on November 2, 1983 in Lower Merion Township to Elizabeth H. and Eugene H. Gillin, Esquire. Harry attended Our Lady of Grace Regional School, Somerdale, NJ and graduated from St. Joseph's Preparatory School in 2002. Harry graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2006. In 2009, Harry received a Master of Governmental Administration degree from the Fels School of Government of the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Politics. After college, Harry worked at the University of Pennsylvania and then Sonepar USA.
Harry lived the mission of his Jesuit education and was truly a "Man for Others." He always put his family and friends first.
Harry is survived by his parents, his sisters Deirdre (Gillin) Ruttle and Kayla Gillin, brother-in-law Daniel Ruttle, beloved niece Molly Ruttle, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
Visitation hours will be Monday, October 17th from 6-9 PM at the Church of Gesu, 1733 Girard Avenue (corner of 18th Street and Girard Avenue), Philadelphia, PA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18th at 9:30 AM at Old St. Joseph's Church, 321 Willings Alley (just south of Walnut Street between 3rd and 4th Streets), Philadelphia, PA. Interment will be private.
