HARRY CALDWELL BARBIN, JR., ESQ., age 88, a resident of Gwynedd Estates for the past two years and formerly of Maple Glen died on January 31, 2017. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis Shadle Barbin for 65 years. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Harry C. Barbin, Sr. and the late Norma Shaw Barbin. Harry graduated from Frankford High School in 1946. After earning his Bachelor's degree from Temple University in 1951, he studied at Temple University Law School and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1953. He was a Senior Partner with Barbin & O'Connell, Inc. a law firm in Rockledge, PA, where he practiced for 56 years until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Harry proudly served with the US Army and was stationed at The Presidio in San Francisco, CA. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Throughout his career, Harry was active in his community by giving of his time and talent by serving on the Board of Directors of the Lower Moreland Sewer Authority, Board of Directors of Independence Bancorp and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was CEO and Founder of Suburban Community Bank. He enjoyed golf and was the owner of Horsham Valley County Club and Owner and CEO of Cheseapeake Bay Golf Club. Harry was the founding member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Maple Glen, where he previously served as Church Warden, and on the Vestry and Treasurer's committees. He served as Vice Chancellor of Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed traveling, reading, boating and fishing, especially in Ocean City, NJ. He and Phyllis enjoyed dining out and attending performances at the Keswick Theatre. He was a Phillies fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children; Harry C. Barbin, III of Clearwater, FL, Sheryl A. Barbin of Ambler, PA and Andrew T. and Allison Barbin of Elkton, MD and by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard T. Barbin. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2017, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 919 Tennis Avenue, Maple Glen. Relatives and friends will be received in the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the memorial garden of the church.
