F. Mason Adams, Jr., age 83, passed on May 26, of Bryn Athyn, PA. Retired Police Chief. Mason led a life of service to his country, community, friends and family. Serving with the Military Police in the US Air Force for 3 yrs. after high school, Mason served with the Bryn Athyn Police Dept. for 34 years, the last 8 as Chief of Police. Retirement from the his job of Chief included 14 years as a Security Officer for the Academy of the New Church, his dedication was recognized with an honorary high school diploma. He served as a Grand Jury foreman, and the Bryn Athyn Boro as a council member and was assigned the volunteer position of Public Works Director, he then worked as a supervisor for public works fully retiring in early May 2014. Mason is known to his community as a dedicated, hardworking, honorable man who easily earned the love and respect of those who knew him.
Mace is survived by his beloved wife, Peb (nee Laing) of 56 yrs., 4 sons and their spouses, James (Susan), Randall (Kimberley), Gary (Lisa), Andrew (Rachel), 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. In 1963, 3rd son of Peb & Mace, Michael Owen, became an angel as a newborn.
Mason has been a dear friend, mentor, role model, and hero to his sons and grandchildren. Mace is remembered by his family and friends as loyal, courageous, kind, wise, and always the gentleman. Above all Mason will be remembered for his outrageous sense of humor that continued until his passing.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2:00 pm at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral in Bryn Athyn, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bryn Athyn Church www.brynathynchurch.org or The Academy of the New Church www.ancss.org
